Not sure who is responsible…just wanted to say thanks for the scriptures that are now in the right side bar. I appreciate it. Needful.

Ever get Spooked while hunting ?

While reading about Pastor Harold’s bear hunting, I got to thinking about all the hunting I have done. I couldn’t even start to guess at the thousands of hours I’ve spent hunting. Deer and quail mostly but some dove and even crows. My dads side of the family lives in the eastern part of N.C. while I’ve lived in the western part most of my life. When I got old enough I started spending a great deal of time there hunting and fishing. Some of my relatives thought they would join in and the outcome was quite funny at times.

SI's Fifth Anniversary... how should we celebrate?

I don’t have an exact date, but SI started Jan/Feb ‘05. So according to my calculations (always suspect), that would mean Jan/Feb ‘10 would be the five year mark.

So… ideas on how we should celebrate? One that crossed my mind was some way of re-doing the young fundamentalists survey that kind of got everything going in the early days. Seems like something special is called for though, so, let’s hear your ideas.

Any Linux users at SI?

I’ve just made the switch from Windows world to Ubuntu Linux on my PC… well, mostly. I still have alot of special purpose applications that can’t run in Linux and that I haven’t found suitable Linux equivalents for. (Libronix is one. So I run it in a VirtualBox… it’s Windows XP running under Linux).

Just curious if we have any other Linux users at SI.

Fonts too small?

Is it just me or are the site’s fonts a bit too small? Seems like the text in articles and threads gets smaller every day, but maybe it’s my own eye fatique!

It’s pretty easy to bump up the main text size but that usually creates a bunch of “fit” problems so sizes have to then be tweaked in quite a few places. Worth it though, if folks are at all discouraged from reading the site due to overly tiny text.

My Pastor (and me) at T4G

I just found out that my pastor, Brian Habig, is one of the breakout speakers at T4G. I’ve been thinking about going, and this has pushed me over the edge. Anyone else?

Retirement for pastors

I know there are many avenues to save for retirement such as IRA’s, Roth IRA’s, and SEP-IRA’s but I have come across a 403(b) for pastors. Anyone familiar with this and can you point me to a good source of information regarding 403(b)’s?

Logos Bible Software

Has anyone on this website made the jump to using Logos Bible Study software or have experience with it? I’ve begun deliberating whether or not it would be a worthwhile investment and am not familiar with the software itself. The program is very expensive and I am leery of having to pay to re-purchase some resources that I already have, especially considering that some - albeit not many - of the commentaries that I use are either free [for E-Sword: or have their own standalone programs [Expositors Bible Commentary, Pulpit Commentary: .

Florida Ranked...#1 of course.

Florida begins the season with the most justifiable #1 ranking in college football in some time. It will be interesting to watch Tim and his execution this season. Will Meyer make Tim stay in the pocket and pass more with less running or continue to use him in full college style? And will Tim have a legitimate shot at a second Heisman with so much “political correctness” poisoning American sports entertainment?
