My cousin was diagnosed with Swine flu and now she’s been hospitalized after developing pneumonia. Please pray for Rebekah N. and her family. Her 6 yr old daughter was sick too, but we think she is getting better & her toddler son has a difficult ear infection. Her husband Kenneth is out of the country a lot for work, but praise God, he’s home now and helping with the kids.

I should have an update after tonight.

I have a hard time asking prayer for this, actually, because adoption is such an iffy thing until it happens, but …

(This is all happening in Ukraine where we live.) Vitaliy and I talked about adopting or being foster parents before we were married, and over a year ago, a friend told us about a little boy, Paul, who has some physical defects. He’s legally abandoned and so is adoptable.

Nancy and I would like to ask you to pray for our daughter Melodie who has been serving with us as a short term missionary with BMM since our return to the field in December. She has been sick on and off for over a month with diarrhea and heart palpitations. She has been treated, seemed to recover, and then gotten sick again for at least three times.

It is my joy and privilege to announce a special conference that our church will be hosting next year that we have called “Preaching for a Change”. Our goal is to help equip pastors and teachers to preach expositionally so that the people to whom they preach will be changed into the image of Christ by the Word of God. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Steve Lawson of Mobile AL and special music will be provided by Thomas Pryde (Sermons in Song).

God seems to be leading me to make my first post at SharperIron as a prayer request. I have joined this community of online believers to help myself grow even stronger in faith and keep myself active online around men and women who truly love God. There are many sites that can easily tear down what God builds up. I am not a stranger to the things of God, but have just grown cold. I won’t blame anyone but myself and the decisions I have made.

Scott Aniol is planning to attend the Mid America Conference on Preaching in October and Tweet it for SI. His posts will appear in a “Liveblog” panel on the front page.
