Premarital Counseling Material

What material do you all use or suggest for premarital counseling? Do you use your own material or is there some good material out there that you can suggest? Thanks!

Did anyone follow the GSI conference in Detroit?

Student Global Impact. I was more or less expecting to see a bit about it on SI, but didn’t see it even mentioned. Did I just miss it somewhere?

I kept watching the Missions forum but didn’t see anything so thought maybe it would be mentioned here under “members getting together” since you often mention other conferences here.

Anyone else on Twitter?

If anyone else here on Sharper Iron is on Twitter, we could make this thread into a Twitter directory of sorts. Then people can follow fellow SI members on Twitter too.

Sound Room Advice

What is the best way to hook up a minidv camera to a computer for webcasting and make that camera send a video feed to monitor in a church nursery? Also, what is the most affordable way?

New block in member profiles

Members: you now have a new “Forum threads…” block in your profile for quick and easy tracking of your forum activity. The header is labeled “Forum threads I’ve…” and you have two tabs: “posted in” and “started.”

The first displays all threads you’ve posted in and the second those you’ve started (whether they have any posts yet or not)

To the right of each listed thread, the number of “new” posts appears (since your last visit to the thread)

Securing porch decor

So, this really falls under the category of everything else! My parents live on a fairly busy street (two lane) in a suburb. Their house is Classic Craftsman style, and they play up the old house look with fun junk on the porch. Until mid-October, this included a large plastic goose with seasonal costumes. The goose disappeared, and signs to “please return, no questions asked” did not free said goose from captivity. My mother now has a new goose but we were wondering if anyone had bright ideas for securing “her” that does not look like “she’s” being chained to the porch railing.

Dog Breed Specific Legislation, and saying "Good-Bye" to our dog

Yesterday afternoon we were leaving on some errands, and our dog found a spot behind a bush where she could jump our fence, presumably because she wanted to come along for the ride. Some neighbors were outside, and they came into our yard to ‘help’ us get her back, but this was a BAD move on their part. My kids were outside, and Cozy is very protective of them, so she was nipping at the neighbor’s heels and really barking. It doesn’t matter that she is only 7 months old- she has a deep growly bass bark that is very intimidating.

Favorite Christmas-time meal

We eat our favorite meal on Christmas Eve, but this year we have to postpone it (kids won’t be able to get here then).

It is:

Roasted, quartered duck, cooked on a rack, rubbed with kosher salt and caraway seeds

Bread dumplings (knedlicky)

Duck gravy (mushroom soup with a bit of duck grease and caraway seed)

Sweet and sour cabbage or sauerkraut

Mmmm.
