Securing porch decor

So, this really falls under the category of everything else! My parents live on a fairly busy street (two lane) in a suburb. Their house is Classic Craftsman style, and they play up the old house look with fun junk on the porch. Until mid-October, this included a large plastic goose with seasonal costumes. The goose disappeared, and signs to “please return, no questions asked” did not free said goose from captivity. My mother now has a new goose but we were wondering if anyone had bright ideas for securing “her” that does not look like “she’s” being chained to the porch railing. As I said, it’s a Craftsman style house with the large square pillars at the top of the steps and wide railings all the way across the front of the house. We’re thinking something along the lines of a bike cable and threaded around or perhaps drilled up and into the underside of the feet. Other thoughts? Thanks!
