“the current debate over masks is ... currently the most obvious reflection of our idolization of liberty.”

“Community post-Enlightenment serves me now, not the other way around. The all important ‘I.’ In a word, our much beloved individualism. Some of you probably have calendars, t-shirts, and coffee mugs touting individualism’s tenets that tell you that you have the right to be happy, achieve your dreams, define yourself however you want, and live your best life now, among other distillations of secularism’s priority of the individual.” - John Ellis

I was going to post that picture of Dr. Fauci at the ball game, but Don beat me to it. This illustrates the skepticism many, including myself, have about these gov’t requirements. Yes, some type of face mask has its place in certain situations and around certain people. But when gov’t officials give us a rule that they themselves don’t consistently follow, no wonder many people remain skeptical and resistant. He explains that he was dehydrated and drinking water. But that doesn’t explain why his wife has hers completely off.

There is another photo from the scene where he is smiling and talking to the masked guy next to him, no water bottle apparent.

Also, I saw a video of him a few weeks ago at a press conference where he was talking about the importance of masks (now) etc. Then , press conference over, cameras off (he thought), he immediately took his mask off and roamed around, talking to a few others in the room.

Stuff like this doesn’t tend to build credibility.
