Survey: More than a quarter of white evangelicals believe core QAnon conspiracy theory
“There was also significant support among white evangelicals for the claim that members of antifa, or anti-fascist activists, were ‘mostly responsible’ for the attack on the U.S. Capitol, according to the survey conducted by the conservative American Enterprise Institute.” - RNS
Can’t vouch for the statistics, but I gently corrected a young man last night who had fallen for the “it was Antifa” ruse. Um, if it were, please explain the well known Trump supporters on film…..
I’m going to dare say that one big part of the problem is that people are realizing to what extent the media’s finger is on the scales. I would say to many “well, just watch the networks and read the AP news feed”, and I’ll justifiably get the response “do you mean the same networks and news feed that ignored how Biden appears to have used his position as Vice President to enrich himself and his coke addict son? Do you mean the media that is ‘helpfully’ changing the question to make it look like President Trump lied on many issues?”
Ugly reality here is that conspiracy theories flourish when the media don’t do their jobs in a semi-impartial way, and that’s exactly what we have at this point.
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
This pervasiveness within the Republican party and white evangelicals is a key reason why I don’t think the Republican party reflects me and my values. I see a real problem with the Republican party over the next 4 years. Either this will become more pervasive and the more moderates will abandon the party or they will quash this movement. It is also an increasing reason why I am having trouble identifying with Christian evangelicals. I am not abandoning the faith, but I would say almost 50% of the people I come in contact within this sphere are influenced by this. This is going to be a real problem in Christian circles if this doesn’t get addressed either.
No one has “debunked” that there was fraud in the last election. They have counted and recounted the ballots that were cast. That’s it. No one has looked into who cast those votes and whether they did it legally. No one has looked into the shenanigans of Democrats to change election policies despite the will of the legislature. On and on.
It is simply an exaggeration to say “fraud has been debunked.”

I would say that it has mostly been debunked. Definitely the idea that widespread fraud was rampant and blatant has been debunked. The changing of election policies has been debunked. The state legislature laid out laws. The secretary of state provided guidance around these laws. It was shown that similiar guidance was provided in both the contested states and also states that Trump won and didn’t contest. After the election many of those, especially in states like PA, we challenged in court. In more instances than not, Trump nominated judges threw the lawsuits out as having no merit and that the secretary of state was within legal limits. And after all of that the legislature chose to accept those results and agree that the secretary of state was within their limits. There are multiple levels of checks and balances and multiple levels where people would be held accountable. The changed policies thrown out by some people were over exagerrated and were consistent to processes followed for years and years and years.
They have looked into who cast those votes and whether they did it legally. No one is going to do a 100% counter check. One of these examples was the signature audit in Georgia. They did do a sampling of signature audits in GA which came back as 99.9997% correct and 100% no fraud, including interviewing people with trained law enforcement officers. Other states have other checks and balances. Some people have been charged in isolated instances, but no evidence of massive ballot tampering that would affect 100,000’s if not millions of votes. Pennsylvania uses a cutting edge audit process after the election to detect fraud and confirm results.
But in the end it doesn’t matter, people who don’t want to trust it won’t trust it. Just like we have flat earth people, people who believe that the moon landing was fake, people who believe JFK is alive, people who believe that March 4th Trump will be sworn in as president (https://www.yahoo.com/news/trumps-dc-hotel-hiking-prices-143408941.html)
its very important for the future.
The idea that you can vote from home on a ballot mailed to you and no one checks that it was you and legal and legitimate is scary.
