A Conflict of Visions: Comparing Rick Warren’s SBC Speech and Juan Sanchez’s Convention Sermon
“I have in mind Rick Warren’s brief address Tuesday from the floor of the convention and Juan Sanchez’ convention sermon Wednesday. These two messages represented two different, competing visions of ministry and the local church.” - 9 Marks

It’s little bit unfair to compare a defensive address from the meeting floor to a sermon. SBC was considering kicking Warren et al out of the convention. So that’s going to skew your emphasis more than a little.
That said, I think DiPrima is right that there are two different conflicting visions here for what ministry success really looks like. It’s not really reducible to Key Performance Indicators. Maybe Warren would also say so, but Sanchez still articulated a very different angle on what ministry is all about.
Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.
