How much should elder's wives know?
We have had some interesting discussions lately about how much information an elder’s wife should be told about elder board business. Some feel that since the wife is not elected to that position, she really doesn’t have any more right to know the inner workings and matters of the board than any other church member. Others feel that since the husband and the wife are one, and she is his support and helpmeet, she should be privy to just about any information he has, but it should go no further.

Miles Coleman
Hi everyone, please pray for my lifelong friend Miles Coleman. He’s the son of Fred Coleman of the BJU music faculty. Miles was injured in a workout accident this morning. His skull is fractured and he was in an induced coma. He has recently awoken somewhat and has given signs that he’s doing OK. Pray that he the blood clot on his skull won’t move to his brain, that his fever will go down, and that his brain won’t swell.

Got a case of “certain Christian brother must be a cad, but I just can’t find any real evidence of that”? The good news is that despite that minor inconvenience you can blast him and build yourself a following at the same time—all without breaking a sweat. Here’s ten easy steps.
- Start by declaring that your assertion is obvious and indisputable. That way you don’t have to actually provide any evidence. People will either believe it or keep silent because nobody wants to risk being the dolt who can’t see the obvious. (By the way, that Emperor’s New Clothes tale—it’s rubbish. There’s no way people would have believed that kid!)
- Point out that nobody has disproved your claim. Most of the people you want to reel in are not aware of the argumentum ad ignorantiam fallacy. To these, it makes perfect sense to say, “That sap at Duller Lead is obviously trichophobic. I’ve dared him to prove otherwise, and he hasn’t provided a scrap of proof.”
