Seminary thoughts and recomendations

I am woundering if I can get everyone’s wisdom on seminarys. I am the pastor of a church in Ohio where I have been serving for nearly 5 years(2+ as an assistant pastor and 2+ as senior pastor). I have only an undergraduate degree in bible from Cedarville and would like continue my education. Because of my present ministry I am looking for seminaries that provide distiance education.

365Revolutions.org - Daily Bible

So our church is working hard to emphasize our church family and friends reading and talking about the same parts of the Bible this year - we’ve just put a website live for this - I’d love to get some of your feedback and advice! I threw a similar question at you all about 4 month ago and am really thankful for the advice given going forward. Thanks!

Book Recommendations for An Unsaved Seeker

My daughter asked me for a good book recommendation for a friend who has begun attending an evangelical church and is exploring the idea of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The only book I could think of is Josh McDowell’s More Than A Carpenter.

I am not interested in hard sell, sermonic type books, but recommendations of books that clearly, scripturally, and intelligently present the plan of salvation and assurance of the same, written in modern English.

I know of classics, like, “Full Assurance,” etc., but they are dated.

New Year's Eve Party Themes and Ideas

We do not have a service at our church on New Year’s Eve, but we have a party. Some years (like this year), I plan it. We have had themes like “Great Cities of America” where people had to guess cities by photos of their of downtown section.

We are two blocks from downtown, and we walk over to see the ball drop (yes, Kokom, IN has a ball drop, like New York!). They also have a short fireworks display from the courthouse roof.

Today's Small Groups: A Genuine Threat to the Health of the Church?

Small groups…small groups…small groups. The word for today is “small groups” which is what many today are proposing as a prominent mechanism local churches must incorporate in order for intimate discipleship, genuine fellowship and “familyship” to occur among church members. This is the connector mechanism in both large and small churches that insure people have a group for their spiritual and personal necessities as a member of a local assembly…but wait!

Dr. John Dreisbach with the Lord

A friend posted this link on Facebook today:

I am sure more information will be forthcoming in the next few days.

We were privileged to attend the same church as the Dreisbachs for many years. The godly character as well as the merry heart of each of them made a great impact.

About ten years ago I heard Dr. Dreisbach read the following poem at a missions conference. He took every opportunity to go back.
