Gagnon has some valid points but much of his biblical case for vocal outrage ignores the differences in context between Mosaic-covenant Israel vs. USA.

Agree with him that Dreher’s take has been, on the whole, not helpful.

Agree on the need for “secular” arguments, though I don’t think I’d put it quite that way. But one of the things political conservatives have frequently botched is the overuse of arguments that only work for those who have already accepted our religious premises… and there is a whole lot of persuasive data that doesn’t depend on prior biblical convicion.
