The Best Complete Commentary Set for any Christian
“I believe some commentary sets are worth owning in full. Among them is the ESV Expository Commentary, which is now complete at 12 volumes that cover the whole Old Testament and New Testament. I think it is the best series for any Christian to own, whether it is to be used to study for sermons, to prepare Bible studies, or for personal devotion, growth, and learning.” - Challies

I respect Challies, but I am unimpressed by the ESV Expository Commentary. The revised Expositor's Bible Commentary is better.

Although I own the complete EBC (not revised) set on Logos, I have found it is better to purchase commentaries for each book separately. The EBC and EBCr are a mixed bag in quality. Some EBC(r) commentaries are excellent (e.g. Carson's Matthew); others, not so much. So, pick the book you want to study and go to sources like http://www.dbts.edu/basic-library-booklist/ or https://learn.ligonier.org/articles/top-5-commentaries.
