James,

This conceptual approach to Christianity is incorrect in that it encourages attempts to attract individuals based upon their material wishes and desires rather than their spiritual desires. Attempts to attract people who covert that which is on earth and not that which is in heaven.

I have enough problems with this in Fundamentalist Churches which use the term ‘prosper’ and encourage people to seek wealth, which the hearer inadvertently assumes at times that it is acceptable to do this above seeking or accepting God’s will.

Many believe it’s their spiritual birthright to experience comfort and prosperity and that it’s God divine obligation to provide it.
The problem at its root is caused by the notion that God’s primary interest is man, rather than an understanding that God is first and foremost interested in His glory.

The majority of prosperity preaching is about what God wants to do for ME!
