Mother Whose Child was Given 'Gender Transition Care' without Parental Consent Appeals to Supreme Court

“Calgaro’s appeal to the Supreme Court comes after the Eighth Circuit ruled against her. Judge Colloton argued that ‘Calgaro’s remaining claims for declaratory and injunctive relief against the several defendants are moot. E.J.K. has turned eighteen years old, ceased to be a minor under Minnesota law, and completed her education in the St. Louis County School District.’” - Christian Headlines

Discussion

I saw some articles about this sad case a year or so back, and it brings up a bunch of issues. First of all, you’ve got the question of parental authority, and whether it can be terminated without as much as a hearing. Then, from the article, I have to wonder precisely what group of adults the young man found nurturing with, and under what conditions. Were those conditions, ahem, legal? What kind of nurturing was this?

Finally, it’s worth noting that unless there are multiple male-female transition students graduating from St. Louis County high schools this year—which would be extremely unlikely—this is also the same individual who not only followed girls from the “standard” locker room to the one they were allowed to use to not be exposed to him, but also, in that “spare” locker room, decided to celebrate his “new-found femininity” by playing a hip-hop song called “Milkshake” and twerking to it while the girls were basically compelled to be there by their need to shower and dress.

And hence it raises the question, just like the 12 year old boy out east who was being allowed to compete in drag queen shows, of whether gender dysphoria is simply a mental condition that is otherwise harmless, or whether there are some very real, and possibly criminal, issues linked to it. To put it mildly, if I were to go to my health club and do a tenth of what this young man did, I reckon I’d quickly find myself as a former member, and might possibly also go to jail and end up on Megan’s List.

Now let’s also consider that there is a group of people I believe is almost completely separate from gender dysphorics, that of “people who are, or should be, on Megan’s List for sexual assault”; what are they going to do as many schools, health clubs, and such open their doors to “trans” people without considering whether they’ve “made it legal”, “made it permanent”, etc.. What are they going to say when perverts rape a few kids, aided by the fact that the people in that locker room could not just say “you’re a boy, get out of here”?

City Pages is obviously grinding their axe here, but it does illustrate that the poor kid is coming to the plate with two strikes already called against him. Both parents have very real issues with drugs and the law, so it’s no surprise that the kid is confused and hurting. The article also raises the question, again, of what kind of “nurture” he’s getting from social workers and others, but does point out that if a child leaves his home, state law almost automatically deems him emancipated. Mom is suing to try to overturn that law, apparently.
