Parents lose custody of transgender teen

“An Ohio couple on Friday (Feb. 16) lost permanent custody of their teenage daughter because they didn’t want her to undergo sex-change treatment.” BPNews

Was hoping this was a Babylon Bee article, but that I guess was too much to hope for.

I am guessing the parents will appeal, as the court has set an interesting precedent. More or less, the likelihood that a child with gender dysphoria will take their own life is being used as an excuse to remove a child from a home where no signs of abuse are precedent. It is, to put it mildly, a very “interesting” reading of the law that would have been totally foreign until now.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.

There’s some weirdness on the parents part (if this is true):

According to documents submitted by the teen’s attorney, Thomas Mellott, he felt unsafe in his parents’ home, “and was particularly in fear of his father, especially after the reprogramming attempts.”

The teen reported that he was once forced to sit in a room and listen to Bible scriptures for more than six hours at a time, documents say.

JFS placed the teen in the temporary custody of his maternal grandparents, who on Friday were given full custody. His parents, Hendon said, have been paying for traditional therapy at Children’s Hospital.
