WSJ: JD Greear wants to lead the Southern Baptist Convention into a new era, and when the denomination gathers in Dallas for its annual meeting next week, he will be the leading candidate to become its next president.

“ ‘Other than being a member of a church that cooperates with the Convention, I am aware of no SBC constitution or bylaw statement that would prohibit the election of a woman as SBC president,’ Roger ‘Sing’ Oldham, vice president for convention communications and relations, told The Christian Post in a statement Thursday.”

The Southern Baptist Convention will cut ties with the District of Columbia Baptist Convention unless D.C. Baptist leaders confront a member church with lesbian co-pastors, the SBC Executive Committee warned during Feb. 19-20 meetings in Nashville, Tenn.
