"His premise is that the earth’s history is 7000 years."
How Camping calculates that May 21, 2011 is the date of the end of the world.
“In Genesis 7:4 God announces that judgment wil come upon the earth in 7 days by means of a great flood. Camping then turns one to 2 Peter 3:8 where the Bible states that “one day is as a thousand years.” His conclusion is that there are 7000 years from the date of the flood to the end of the world. The year of the flood is assumed to be 4990 BC, and 7000 years from this would be 2011 [adding 1 year from BC to AD ]. His conclusion comes from Genesis 7:10-11 which mentions the 17th day of the 2nd Biblical month as the day that the flood began [this corresponds to our May 21st ]. Thus – God has revealed to Harold Camping that May 21, 2011, is the end of the world.”
