Biblical Theology of Work

I am peaching tonight at a nursing home and I am confused by a passage eph 2:10. Does this mean secular work or work done in the body of Christ? Not all of us have jobs we are passionate about or in areas where we are most skilled due to the economy and other factors. Should we just quit a job we hate and fine one we love? Thats the way many contemporary authors put it, however Piper, MacArthur, Stanley, Lutzer, Hughes, and others say e are missionaries in a fallen world and our secular jobs are not exactly about us being fulfilled. Thanks if anyone can shed light on this topic.

Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology text

In your opinion, does Wayne Grudem’s Systematic Theology text present an accurate presentation of Reformed Doctrine? If you are a Calvinist, have you found any contradictions between what he has written, and what you believe, in his presentation of the “Ordo Salutus”?

Seeking A Biblical Theology of Music - Part II

Jesus does not have my heart if He does not have my music. Is the Spirit or flesh choosing your music? What does the Bible teach about music? What is “Christian” music?

All kinds of music are on the scene today. Before deciding what I should listen to, do I first need to understand what God’s Word teaches about godly music?

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Cor. 5.17.

Seeking a Biblical Theology of Music - Part 1

Mark Twain was said to have commented on a composer’s music, “it is not nearly so bad as it sounds.”

Music has power. Music is power. Songs take us somewhere. Music is a gateway to lift one’s heart up to God or pull him down. Godly music thrills the heart as it glorifies God. Praise is our love for God in full dress uniform. Worship is our quiet, deep devotion to our Lord Jesus offered in a tender, upward hug.

Theology of Work

Dan Miller encourages you to find the work that you love and are passionate about. Dan has lots of wisdom on doing so, and has written a very good book on the subject called 48 Days to the work you love. However reading a book by Hughes called Disciplines of a Godly Man, he has a different view on work than Dan. Hughes argues that you work to give glory to God, and sometimes God does not always put you in a career that you love and are passionate about. But whatever he does you need to glorify him.
