"Casting Our Crowns at His Feet"

Last night at church we were talking about rewards in Heaven, and I had a flashback to my early college days. There was a men’s quartet that did a song…I think this was the title, and some of the words I think were:

We’ll cast our crowns at His nail scarred feet,

Our joy complete in His presence sweet.

Eternity’s greatest privilege will be

Casting our crowns at His feet.

Anybody know the rest, or even have a source for the music?

Thanks!

Questions on A Library for a Third World Country

My pastor wants to develop a library for pastors in the Philippines. He wants me to research what is available in electronic form. We are of course talking about freeware not paid for programs. He is looking to put the library on one or more cds\dvds. So, internet only stuff is not in the scope of this request.

Off the top of my head, I know of On-line Bible. What else is out there?

Thanks for your attention to this matter.

"Death is not Dying: A Faith that Saves" by Rachel Barkey

Rachel Barkey was diagnosed with terminal cancer this year and gave a speech at a women’s conference about her own testimony. I was blessed by watching this video that demonstrates the faith of Rachel Barkey, who recently passed into the presence of the Lord our God on July 2, 2009.

This video was originally mentioned by Diane Heeney on her blog.

The video can be accessed at DeathisnotDying.com.

Though I do not agree with her popular people watch, I found her overall speech to be well done.

Ten Years at SEVBC, Part 3

A Memoir by Pastor Joel Tetreau

The TetreausNew Relationships—The Growing Stage (2005-Present)

Numerical growth has been a blessing. On a few Sundays we’ve been close to 250. For the future we have just recently purchased a 1.5-acre lot to the east of us. That gives us a total of four acres we can develop. We are looking and praying about the future.

Passion Week

I am currently working on my Life of Christ curriculum for next school year and am looking at my section on the Passion Week. I am trying to arrange the events of the week by day, and am finding conflicting ideas. If you have any sources that you think are rather reliable, please let me know.

Here is what I have — let me know if you have any thoughts.

SUNDAY

Triumphal Entry (Jn. 12:12-19)

MONDAY

Cursing of the Fig Tree (Mk. 11:12-14)

Cleansing of the Temple (Mt. 21:12-17)

Patriotic services?

I attended by wife’s family’s church in South Carolina over July 4 weekend; the church had its annual patriotic service. It is in a town with an air force base; I’d guess the church has 25-30 active duty service men/women and vets. I hate attending the patriotic service. I don’t mind the presentation of the colors, saying the pledge of allegiance or the recognition of vets.

Handout Philosophy

Hey, I’m a young preacher and I’m interested in getting some thoughts on philosophy of handouts. Particularly, I’m wondering, assuming that you don’t use overhead/powerpoint and that you have chosen to use a handout, what is your goal with handouts?

Is it to keep people following? Is it to make complex outlines easier to follow? Do you use “fill in the blank”?

Your thought would be appreciated.
