Biographical Preaching - Resource or Method Suggestions?

Do any preachers out there have suggestions for learning to prepare a biographical message? Book/article/website/audio suggestions are welcome, as are tips/guidelines/methods you have found helpful. I know how to preach expository messages taking a single unit of the Scripture in its context, but am not sure about a biographical message. I’d like to preach one on Peter (I know one could preach a whole series on Peter) as a prelude to preaching through 1 Peter in a few weeks.

More of the Holy Spirit is available!

I see a wonderful opportunity for so many to receive more of the Holy Spirit’s repeated fillings! I see this as a major need in countless individuals and endless churches. Why this void?

Blind spots, Opportunities?:

1. Can have more of HS without changing E-F theology.

2. Unaware of how many are in deep overreaction to views of other groups re HS. Have thrown out the baby with the bath.

3. Uncomfortable or even afraid of getting too close to HS. It’s easier to just dismiss it all by calling it “excessive emotionalism, wild fire, extreme, stressful.”

Is Congregational Voting Biblical?

For most of us, voting is a common experience. Many vote for our government representatives and, if we are involved in civic groups, we may vote in them as well. Voting is a means by which we express self-determination. “We the people” have the privilege and duty to help choose our future directions.

Bob Bixby on the Missional Church

Hey Everyone

We just had Bob Bixby at our church and he spent a few days with us talking about being misisonal. We covered the topics of contextualization, the pitfalls of the traditionalist, seeker sensitive and emerging church, and how to adapt to the culture you are in. Here’s the link to our church website where you can get the audio and the notes:
