Challies: Books for understanding the dynamic of conspiracy theories

“What follows is essentially a brief assessment of each of these books—a kind of “lay of the land” when it comes to contemporary writing on conspiracy theory. The majority of them are written from the perspective of secular classic liberalism….the Christian market could use a really good book on the subject” - Challies

Discussion

Some good reading suggestions here. I really enjoyed Trueman’s book and it made me want to read more about conspiracies as well. Continuing to pray for the Challies family after the loss of their son.

I don’t know if these books touch on the subject, but modern conspiracy theories (e.g. 9/11; Moon photos; Nasa, etc.) do have a lot of circumstantial and, sometimes, empirical evidence to back them up. How they “spin” the data is another thing.

While I don’t recommend going deep down the rabbit-hole, I do think some of “conspiracy theorists” deserve a hearing. To me it is simply because Satan is so active in our world and contemporary Christianity (I’m excluding charismatics here) has a shallow and sanitized outlook on the world that ignores the supernatural and the propensities of (especially) rich sinners.
