Tim Keller: stop speaking of political opponents “in a demonizing and dehumanizing way”
“The Bible tells me that abortion is a sin and great evil, but it doesn’t tell me the best way to decrease or end abortion in this country, nor which policies are most effective” - C.Post

….but I’d have to guess that if my goal is to end abortion (and it is), a strategy of funding abortion clinics with tax dollars and prohibiting any meaningful restrictions on the practice is probably going to fail. And sad to say, that seems to be precisely the position of the Democratic Party these days. You might as well argue that, back in Bible times, the best way to prevent infant sacrifice would be to build shrines to Moloch.
In the same way, regarding assistance for the poor, we’ve been trying the high tax/high spend “Great Society” for the past 55 years or so, and sad to say, the problems in poor neighborhoods have only gotten worse. There are times where the Bible doesn’t speak clearly, but the data do, and in such cases, I do think it’s incumbent upon Christians to say that certain policies are indeed out of bounds.
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
