The phenomenon they’re calling “controlling” seems to really be a parent who is out of control of him/herself. It’s not controlling parenting; it’s random, emotion-driven parenting.

I’m reminded of the old adage that if you want lead, first lead yourself. In parenting, it means before you parent, become a grown-up.
