Most churches keep their members so busy they don’t have time to do ministry

….is that churches are not keeping all of their members so busy they don’t have time to “do ministry”, but rather most churches keep the core 10-20% of members and attenders so busy they don’t have time to serve Christ and each other. But that said, having personally heard a brother describe playing softball as a ministry, I would heartily agree with Rainer that sometimes we forget what we’re supposed to be doing. I personally have a lot of hope that enhanced small groups (yes, technically yet another ministry) might help.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.

Sometimes we get so busy “doing” that we neglect “being”.

“If the devil can’t make you bad, he’ll make you busy.”

I’ve also found that “The Trellis and the Vine” has been invaluable (and convicting) in evaluating the profitability of church ministries.
