NewDon't Expect a F/T Pastor

Wed, 02/15/23

If a small church (<100) expects to bring on a F/T pastor, but can’t pay him a decent salary plus full benefits, they need to be content with a bi-vocational pastor. I know some older, established churches don’t like that idea, but that’s the future of pastoral ministry. Young guys going to Bible college to be a pastor would be better served skipping the pastoral studies major, learning a trade or getting a marketable degree instead and then self-financing their way through seminary. That would give them several years of real-world job experience plus both a trade/degree and an MDiv of MA.
