Pope critiques Lord's Prayer translation
On Matthew 6:13, “A better translation, Francis said, might be ‘do not let us fall into temptation.’ … . The National Catholic Register noted Francis was not calling for any official change in the Roman Catholic liturgy.” BPNews
Two verses:
“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil” (Matt. 4:1 ESV).
“Let no one say when he is tempted, ‘I am being tempted by God,’ for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one” (James 1:13 ESV).
Therefore, God doesn’t tempt us, but He certainly leads us down paths of testing or temptation. There’s a difference.
