The Use of Nuclear Weapons Is Inherently Evil

Here are three criteria that Thomas Aquinas detailed in his theology:

  1. War must be declared by a legitimate authority and not just some random individual.
  2. Those attacked must be attacked for some just reason.
  3. Those who attack must do so with the right intention, the attainment of some good, and the avoidance of evil.

I am directly quoting pg. 347 from that work.

"Our task today is to tell people — who no longer know what sin is...no longer see themselves as sinners, and no longer have room for these categories — that Christ died for sins of which they do not think they’re guilty." - David Wells

I’ll get from my library via ILL. Thanks very much.

Does anybody have any good reading suggestions on Just War theory; particularly its contemporary application?

Tyler, I’m reading through the Marine Commandant’s Professional Reading List, and under senior level - enlisted, there is a recommendation for Just and Unjust Wars : a moral argument with historical illustrations, written by Michael Walzer. I’ve not read it myself but thought you might find it interesting.
