Ken Ham’s Ark Replica Taken Into Heaven

Hey, this could happen. You had better go see the Ark while you can!

David R. Brumbelow

It was a toss-up for me between (a) Elevation Church’s baptismal waterslide or (b) this gem about the Ark Encounter. I decided to choose this one, mostly because it revealed heretofore secret plans for AiG’s next themed attraction:

Ham stated to reporters his next project will be called “40 Years In The Wilderness” and will let park visitors participate in an exciting adventure hike as staffers drop them in the middle of Saudi Arabia with no food or other supplies.

It’s just satire; it’s supposed to make you laugh. No offense meant.

….is a daily read for me, as it deftly pokes fun at our fundagelical foibles. Thankfully, unlike the British case that inspired Swift’s “A Modest Proposal”, our foibles are (as far as I know) not murderous, no? We merely joke that our desire for our wives might be such that we’d appreciate it if the Father delayed the Rapture until after our wedding night, or we so desire spiritual gifts that we fake speaking in tongues (I’ve seen it), or our love of showmanship goes to the point of installing a water slide baptismal.

You want serious mockery, I’d recommend the now defunct “stuff fundies like”. The Bee is just supposed to get a laugh and inspire us to some thinking about what we’re doing, and in doing so, it (to an extent) illustrates to us what “outsiders” are thinking anyways. Might as well know, and might as well laugh doing it.

(one that speaks to me now is the one where local emergency rooms are preparing for an influx of VBS volunteers traumatized by a room of four and five year olds….St. Mary’s, here I come!)

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
