Russell Moore: It’s time to take down the Confederate flag

[Chip Van Emmerik]Why stop with the Rebel battle flag? Slavery was once legal throughout the U.S., and many minority groups claim the U.S. flag is a symbol of oppression to them. Sometimes, I think people need to just grow up and put on their big boy pants - just get over themselves a little bit. Almost everything is offensive to someone.
Yep, my point exactly.
1 Kings 8:60 - so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God and that there is no other.
[Jim]About Stone Mountain … (worthwhile to visit):
The largest bas relief sculpture in the world, the Confederate Memorial Carving depicts three Confederate leaders of the Civil War, PresidentJefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson (and their favorite horses, “Blackjack”, “Traveller”, and “Little Sorrel”, respectively). The entire carved surface measures 3 acres (12,000 m2), about the size of two and a quarter football fields. The carving of the three men towers 400 feet (120 m) above the ground, measures 90 by 190 feet (58 m), and is recessed 42 feet (13 m) into the mountain. The deepest point of the carving is at Lee’s elbow, which is 12 feet (3.7 m) to the mountain’s surface.
NAACP wants removal of Confederate generals from Stone Mountain:
The organization issued a statement calling for the removal of all symbols of the Confederacy from the park. “My tax dollars should not be used to commemorate slavery,” Rose said. Rose said his group wants Confederate symbols removed from all state-owned buildings, parks and lands. Rose told Petersen he would start with Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. “Those guys need to go. They can be sand-blasted off, or somebody could carefully remove a slab of that and auction it off to the highest bidder,” Rose said.
