Does your church have a coffee bar?

I am not asking if your church offers coffee, but does it offer expresso, latte, etc? Wondering how widespread this is, and how it is correlated to city/rural.

I definitely wouldn’t mind getting better coffee than we have at our church, but I certainly can’t imagine the need for a full coffee bar. We have both Starbucks/Caribou a couple miles away, and if you are not that snobby, even McD’s has better than average coffee/lattes/etc. (certainly better than 90% of the church coffee I’ve had), and they are even closer.

Most Sundays, my wife and I bring our own coffee anyway. Better (and cheaper) than buying coffee, and way better than coffee brewed at church!

I don’t think we’ve ever had a visitor comment that any problem with us was due to bad coffee!

makes HSBC’s after am service coffee. It’s pretty good stuff. Mind you, Hamilton Square BC is in downtown San Francisco. So our members and visitors know their coffee. Though, as a team, we try to serve a decent cup of (humor on)fundamentalist(humor off) Joe, not some frou frou stuff.

Hoping to shed more light than heat..

You forgot the “Coffee is vile and I wouldn’t drink it to save my own life” option.

Yeah, I would have picked that one. My church has a couple pots of coffee out in the foyer between services, but we also have cups of apple juice. I always take the apple juice.

That’s because if you choose that option, you clearly can’t belong in fundamentalism, so you shouldn’t be reading this! :)

Although, given many church coffees I have tried, I might be tempted to say “THAT coffee is vile and I wouldn’t drink it to save my own life!”

Ron, that’s pretty good! At my previous church, we had a fellowship at one older lady’s home, and she usually made very strong coffee. The pastor, after tasting it, said “That’s like drinking a cigarette!”

It might be a stretch to call what we have a coffee bar…. but it’s close. There’s a little island with a really nice coffee maker w/multiple outlets and a cappuccino machine next to that, along w/all the stuff people seem to want to put in their coffee. (Personally, I like coffee that just tastes like coffee and have no desire to add stuff to it—unless it’s just bad coffee!)

Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.

Yup. *Good* coffee tastes just fine all by itself with no adulteration necessary.

A bag of Scottish Breakfast tea are all I need on Sunday mornings. :D

A bag of Scottish Breakfast tea are all I need on Sunday mornings. Biggrin

Of course, it would be the Scots that would drink tea out of a bag! Is that bag perchance also made out of a sheep’s stomach? :)
