We have used drama off and on. Right now, we are occasionally doing a “reader’s theater” version of Pilgrim’s Progress. I personally think that, with good content, this can be very edifying.

What do you think?

Ed, is that readers theater version of Pilgrim’s progress commercially available?

We use to use live drama when we had one campus but now typically produce video elements rather then live. These are typically used to create tension or ask the question that Scriptures will answer. Rarely will it answer the question.

Wayne,

I’m sorry, you’ll have to get it for free. I began adapting it in 2006 and did 10 installments. If you want ‘em, give me your email address as a private message. I’ll send ‘em as a Word attachment. We just started with the first one, so if we go through all 10 I’ll probably need to keep going.

I know this is the trend and it is effective. It may take a little more technical savvy and more effort, I would imagine. But at least there are no surprises. I would think this takes a group of folks dedicated to such a task. We are seeing specialized versions of the gift of helps.

Probably also takes a lot of planning with a long lead time — an advance schedule of sermon topics, etc.

We may use them as part of the Easter or Christmas program. However there is still a sermon and would it never be used in a regular service on a regular basis.

Sorry for being so slow in responding Ed I was out of town. We are blessed with some awesome resources. This is a video we used a few weeks ago. http://vimeo.com/50064904
