Why Your Church Should be Multi-Generational . . . and Why It’s Not Easy to Do

“Many churches consist of one primary generation, and that’s not the healthiest church.” - Chuck Lawless

Discussion

Yesterday after church I watched one of the teenage girls sitting taking with a widowed lady. I had noticed a while back that they had hit it off pretty well. My oldest son is 14 and one of his best friends is a man from church in his mid 70’s. They have some of the same hobbies, but they also encourage each other in their walk with the Lord. Our weekly Bible study at church is multigenerational. We have a round table discussion and the younger are able to learn from the older, but the older saints have commented that they learn so much from hearing the perspective from the kids. I love that the kids and senior citizens both have the same opportunity to answer and ask questions. It has been a great experience for all.

our problem has been families moving from the City when the children are still young. So, we only have one family that is more than two generations deep.

Hoping to shed more light than heat..
