Social Media Fosters Distrust in Institutions. But We Can’t Live Without Them.

“…social media enables the same voices that (rightly) celebrate the downfall of corrupt institutions to wield significantly more power with even less accountability than their institutional predecessors.” - TGC

Discussion

This article misses an interesting side point of this discussion, especially in further inspection of the Tower of Babel. Social Media has flattened the access to knowledge and has made it available to all. The article misses the concern that the Lord had in this situation at Babel. If you look at verse 6, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.” And subsequently he dispersed them. We are once again, unlike any other time in history since Genesis 6, at the exact same point. The world is once again getting closer and closer to one. If you can’t see that, look at how integrated knowledge is, or the supply chain situation. We have one language (data, internet…) and it is only the beginning of what we can do. Our knowledge is rapidly increasing and our ability to expand out power not only over creation on this planet, but outside of this planet and the universe is rapidly expanding. The internet and subsequently, social media is a huge driver for this. AI is increasingly becoming indistinguishable from intelligence, and our creations exist outside of our solar system.
