As usual, SCOTUS has to factor in the long history of US case law, so the decision at this stage probably isn’t going to have anything much to do with abortion or even with the 14th Amendment. People will see the decision as political or fussing over technicalities, but everything SCOTUS does has far reaching impact on many legal issues that may seem unrelated.

I am 100% pro-life, but the notion that people can sue abortion providers to enforce the law is absurd. Flat out. If this stands, expect all kinds of other things to be enforced this way. For example, Massachusetts allows people to sue Colt Firearms every time one is used in a crime…
Or I sue McDonald’s because I am offended that they feed people and make them obese…
As a basic legal principle of western thought, I have no standing in court against my neighbor’s life choices. I have to be personally involved somehow. This law wrecks that principle.
The enforcement mechanism of this law is a bad idea.
The Justices seemed to have consequences like that on their minds during oral arguments the other day.
“Get it done, no matter how” seems almost like a new religion these days… or a pandemic.
