A portion of the Report to the SBC Executive Committee by the ERLC Study Task Force Unanimously and prayerfully submitted January 16, 2021:
“State executive directors also reported on the concerns they regularly hear from pastors. They are listed here without commentary.
x The open opposition of a candidate for president of the United States
x The accusation of receiving funding from an organization with ties to George Soros
x Amicus brief in support of a New Jersey mosque
x That the ERLC is not available or responsive
x ERLC stance on immigration
x Silence on certain issues including timely public support for the religious liberty of California churches during the COVID-19 pandemic…
x The appearance by a recently departed senior staffer on an online panel sponsored by the Joe Biden campaign, contributing to perceptions of a leftward political drift
x Dr. Moore’s stated support of attending homosexual wedding showers and receptions.
x Disrespectful and condescending responses to the questions of messengers. Repeatedly noted was the response given to Pastor John Wofford of Armorel Baptist Church at the 2016 annual meeting.
x That conservative political figures are criticized more frequently and more harshly than moderate to liberal figures.”

The possible sexual abuse coverup by the Southern Baptist Executive Committee and the mafia-style politics to silence Dr. Moore needs to be investigated by an outside 3rd party group. Hopefully, this motion passes at the SBC 21 meeting.
“In light of the recent allegations made by Russell Moore, former president of the ERLC, in letters dated February 24, 2020, and May 31st, 2021 (see attached), we move that the messengers ask the newly appointed president of the SBC to appoint a task force to hire a 3rd party to investigate the allegations made against the Executive Committee of the SBC in said letters, including but not limited to, allegations of mishandling sexual abuse cases, a pattern of intimidation, and resistance to sexual abuse reform initiatives. We further move that the task force report back to this convention at our next annual meeting with the findings of the investigation as well as suggestions for actions being taken by our convention. https://twitter.com/DGrantGaines/status/1401268042642903047/photo/1.
“I have received a copy of the letter from former ERLC president Russell Moore to our current SBC president J.D. Greear. Some of the matters referenced occurred prior to my coming here in this role. For those matters of which I was present, I do not have the same recollection of these occurrences as stated.” -Ronnie Floyd, President & CEO, SBC Executive Committee

“I was there too. And I saw every record as I walked with Jen on the legal side, after the Ex. Co. Leaders, including Ronnie Floyd, refused to even communicate. We tried for months to resolve this as brothers and sisters without appeal to the legal process, and were stonewalled.” Rachel Denhollander https://twitter.com/R_Denhollander/status/1401258876217999360
By the way, I really appreciate SharperIron allowing both sides on this issue. SBCVoices deleted my comments on this subject.
For any who might be interested, Mike Stone has a statement on youtube:

David,
I appreciate your comments.
Reading Russell’s leaked letter reaffirms what I have thought for a long time. While I am sure those reading this are godly men of godly character, I fear that the pastors and leaders of far too many so-called conservative and biblical churches are not godly. I don’t know what their motivations are. Power. Money. Control. I don’t know. But too many churches I have interacted with over my 30 years as a believer have revealed themselves to not be interested in practicing the real gospel. The pastors protect perverts and abusers. Why? They promote to ministry men they know do not know the word and do not have a heart to learn. But they look good and are cool and hunt and fish, etc… It saddens me deeply.
‘Preserve the Base’: Leaked Audio Shows SBC Leaders’ Reluctance to Deal with Sex Abuse
Looks like Moore was telling the truth while Stone, Floyd, and the Executive Committee were participating in sexual abuse coverup in order to “preserve the base.” The SBC Executive Committee immediately needs an independent investigation from a 3rd party. https://julieroys.com/leaked-audio-sbc-abuse-base/.
