RZIM plans to change name, remove Ravi Zacharias' content from website

“In a statement Saturday, RZIM CEO and Zacharias’ daughter, Sarah Davis, provided what she described as the first of periodic updates highlighting the ‘steps we are taking as we seek to walk a path of repentance, restitution, learning, and serving.’” - C. Post

Since Ravi was the face of the organization, and most of the intellectual capital, what’s going to be left? I have the hope that there’s going to be something worth wanting and republishing, but I have the nagging fear that this whole scandal has trashed almost the whole kit and caboodle.

Q: what’s going to be left?

A: a corporation where donors (suckers in my view) can give and RZIM executives (who would be lucky to work as baristas) can collect salaries

Zero, zip nada. If all the IP has Ravi’s name and cannot be sold for that reason, all that’s left to do is shut down as gracefully as possible and use the proceeds from the IP to fund severance and apology payments to Ravi’s victims.

And in a way, we all have the tendency to be “baristas” (no insult intended to Jim’s daughter, who was a great one I’m told in her youth) in this regard in that circling the wagons by attacking the accuser, ignoring clear evidence of problems, and failing to do a good, reasonably independent investigation. It’s part of the habit of “circling the wagons”, and anyone who wants their organization (ministry, church) to handle problems well needs to have culture in place (not policies, culture—corporate culture eats policies for lunch) to avoid this.

A fair number of minisries have declared themselves to be churches for the purpose of not filing 990s. RZIM is one, I believe GTY is another.

True: Started at age 16. Paid her way through college (6 years total). Now a VP of the foremost investment bank.
