It seems that errant pastors always seem to come back (David Hyles being something of an exception so far, and hopefully Jack Schaap), and this illustrates a need for churches and associations to have lists of people who have been shown the door, along with the reasons why.  Not that it would be perfect--the reasons to show MacDonald the door have been known for years--but it would at least be helpful to say "this was not simply the right boot of fellowship".

And yes, you need to get it right, or get sued, but again.....not too hard to do with, say, MacDonald, Hyles, or Schaap.

Not only is MacDonald coming back, but he is trying to reclaim all of his sermons and stuff from Harvest Bible and Walk In The Word to re-launch himself.

Bert I don’t know if I’d put McDonald in a class with HYLES and SCHAAP  who are both sexual deviants and/or criminals.  McDonald might be a thief, but that remains to be seen.

Now as far as McDonald returning to preach again it is way to soon for all the damage he has caused.  At this point I’m assuming he has a decent nest egg to retire and that is just what he should do.  Based on that he should just lay low.

The whole thing of McDonald coming back smacks of pride in my mind.  McDonald is trying to be back in the lime light.

If McDonald was smart he would find a good church with a good set of Pastors and submit to their authority and seek a good counselor and humble himself before the Lord.  I’m sure after a while maybe a good while God can use him again.

Im very understanding of Pastors possibly eventually returning to the ministry as long as they have not committed a sexual related criminal act or covered one up or he was a wife beater.     Also as long as the Pastor  and his wife are still together I don’t see a problem.

If you don't like James MacDonald, don't listen to him. I never have, so why would I care whether others do? This seems to be much ado about things that are outside of my purview. I have my own life to live, and whether a guy is considered qualified by others to preach in a camp outside of mine... so be it.

Mark, I've been practicing exactly what you suggest--don't listen to MacDonald--but at a certain level, MacDonald is tremendously influential with a large number of people following his example.  The key issue here is the purity of the church, and while we are clearly a small pond here, each of us has most likely some contact with those who follow MacDonald and his friends like Driscoll.  Perhaps we can sharpen each other so we can see the wolves in our midst and counsel others to avoid them.
