“Could it have been a mere coincidence that John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, two of the most central characters in the American revolution, deeply involved in the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, both died on the 50th anniversary of July 4, 1776? Americans at that time were astounded—and modern Americans should pause to think.” - Al Mohler

NewIs it just me?

Is it just me or does Mohler’s reasoning here seem like it was not one of his sharper days? “Could it have been a mere coincidence that John Adams and Thomas Jefferson” both died on July 4 50 yrs later? I have another question, could it have been a coincidence that all the other signers of the Declaration did not die on July 4, any number of years later?

It’s a game you can play all day in either direction.

He’s not wrong about providence, mostly, but alignments of interesting events don’t prove or disprove providence.

Every single thing that happens is providence. He does all His pleasure (Is 46.10).

Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.
