The 2 candidates reflect the personality of the country. Not Inspiring. Not A Debate, only Personal Attacks.
The Repub Convention will be boring, except for probable protests.
The Dem Convention will be interesting to watch.

NewJudgment
Both candidates are God's judgment on our country. We are getting the leaders we deserve.
NewEmbarrassing
Completely embarrassing debate all the way around. Very little substance from either side, and the bickering over a golf handicap was absolutely ridiculous. They looked like two 80 year old second graders.
Democrats are right to be worried about Biden. He appears to be declining rapidly and I'll be somewhat surprised if he is still alive by the time this next presidential term ends.
NewIt was bad. I cannot…
It was bad. I cannot understand why the Democratic establishment rallies around Biden. I am not even sure he knows where he is half the time. Have mercy on the guy and tell him to go home. I was surprised at the civility of Trump compared to other debates. It was like watching two really old guys in a retirement home arguing without a clue as to what is going on around them. If it keeps going like this, Trump will win by a landslide. I just wish Trump would move back away from the fringe, get a grip on how things work and he could actually be a pretty decent president.
The news media keeps highlighting the massive amount of lies that Trump told last night. But in the end 1) most politicians are always telling half truths as they are always presenting a slant or their take on something, and 2) lies or no lies, at least 50% of the country feels aligned to Trump's sentiment on how things are, even if the numbers or statements he makes are off. Even if he was off on the number of immigrants that are criminal, I don't think it matters too much of the nation. They see the immigration problem as a threat. Whether you are accurate on the number of criminals, the amount of drugs.... it doesn't matter. It is all conflated with a threat. They see a threat, and you can paint it with any picture you would like.
NewWorth a read
Worth reading, at The Dispatch (from a few months ago, but now with new relevance).
The American People Should Demand Better: How The Dispatch is thinking about a Trump-Biden rematch.

Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.
NewI am no fan of Biden, but…
I am no fan of Biden, but the Dispatch kind of clowds some things:
The fact is that both of these bozos have made a mess of the situation.
NewIt was bad. I cannot…
Excellent comments above. A number of media sources have been telling us that Biden was very mentally competent. I think it is time to admit that those media sources do not have any credibility. I believe that once you come to that realization you will start to view things much differently.
NewThe interesting thing about…
The interesting thing about the media and Biden's mental state is that they have been blaming the clips that we have all seen as manipulated video. Snippets taken out of context or stitched together. And there is probably a bit of truth there. But last night was live and unedited and there is really nothing you can say about it. The fact that all of these Democrat insiders are now freaking out, you kind of have to ask the question, Where have they been the last year? What is worse is that we are not just voting on a president in how he performs today, but how he needs to perform in the next 5 years. You can see how much he has changed in the last 4 years. I can't imagine he would be even comprehensible in 5 years. It is like watching one of your very old frail grandparents as they continue to decline in health. It was actually a bit sad watching him. I know that Trump jabbed him a few times, but it almost looked like Trump felt bad for him.
NewI know that Trump jabbed him…
That is kind of what is a bit confusing about Trump. As I listen to his speeches he often sounds compassionate and unifying and then he will suddenly come across as very rude. Of course his rude statements make headlines while Biden's just as rude statements often do not. I go back to a statement I keep making over and over. I am so excited for Christ to return and rule and reign. Finally, we will then have a leader that I can look up to.
NewThose "surprised" by what…
Those "surprised" by what happened during the presidential debacle Thursday night are either willfully ignorant or completely dishonest.
The senility and dementia have been obvious for years. It was obvious in 2020. It's just more pronounced now. If you were paying attention, you knew this. If you restrict your "news" intake to the legacy, drive-by media, you purposely chose to be gaslit by the likes of "Morning Joe" and his ilk.
You could have and should have seen this coming from a mile away. Our country is in danger because of this man and those who cover for him, minimize his actions, make excuses for him and enable him - some who post frequently to SI. There's no way he is going to be the Democrat nominee.
Anyone on the right could have and should have seen this coming. We had other, younger, more conservative, more principled options. Options who have a very recent track record of winning over Democrats with his common-sense brand of conservatism. Someone who took a deep purple state and in 4 years transformed it to deep red.
If we get a Newsom/Trump matchup in the general, I'm not optimistic. It could have been so much different. But we're getting what we deserve.
NewThe interesting thing about…
We were talking about the supposed "deep fakes" and how some were suggesting that conservatives were just pushing pause to make it look like Joe Biden was freezing up. I can't remember if it was my wife or teenage son who said, "that doesn't explain how other people in the video kept moving." Once you start looking at the media like Bereans and stop just accepting Aaron's list of trusted media sources... Once you start looking at the media like Bereans, it will affect your whole political outlook. BTW, you need to look at conservative media like Bereans as well. I think it is a bit risky for us to try to give a list of trusted media sources in this current environment.
NewAn expensive indulgence
It's expensive, but I'm not willing to stop my subscription to the "Wall Street Journal." I find it to be the most consistently trustworthy in the print media field. Dittos with "World" magazine from a Christian perspective. No publication is perfect, but these two really help me with insight into what's going on in the world.
