It's hard to imagine the Prophets speaking some of their pronouncements without raising their voices, and let's not forget that our Lord was mute before those who would kill Him. All too often, we proscribe the vocal techniques which give our speech meaning (while wondering why our orations are powerless), forgetting that those techniques have, or do not have, reasonable meaning based on the setting. Instead of saying that a loud voice or silence is in itself sinful, examine the motivations.
