How Christians Enabled Putin

“Sadly, some American Christians were eager to express positive views of Putin, allowing his public stance on homosexuality and gender issues to cover over his multitude of glaring faults.” - CPost

Too many evangelicals are in a war mindset regarding changes in our culture. They haven’t realized that there is no way “win” if you’re fighting the wrong war. Part of a war mindset is thinking that the enemy of your enemy is your friend. But since our real war is for hearts and minds and truth, we can’t fight it in the ways wars are usually fought. I don’t just mean with firearms and other weapons. I mean with coercion of any kind. You can’t authentically persuade with policy and laws, much less with elected leaders who’s personal ethics actually fight on the wrong side of a hearts & minds war, which securing a handful of policy gains.

(In a battle for hearts and minds and truth, the enemy of your enemy is usually another enemy.)

Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.

We missed the reality of what was going on with Grozny (Chechnya) and Aleppo/Syria, and now Putin’s brutality is getting much closer to the countries we care about most. We might make the “defense” that both of these prior events occurred during Democratic administrations (Clinton and Obama), but that doesn’t let us off the hook for the degree to which we didn’t care.

Praying that someone takes Putin out, and that the CCP gets punished as well for their actions in Xinjiang as well. Not terribly concerned about whether Putin gets a lethal dose of polonium, dies from an infected hangnail, or goes to jail for unpaid parking tickets, but the man needs to go.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.

Mr. Putin sees himself as Tsar Vladimir III.

Hoping to shed more light than heat..
