Tensions behind World magazine's move to push Olasky out of his editor's chair
“There is, of course, no way to leave Donald Trump out of this story, with Olasky submitting his resignation (he was planning to retire next summer) after a coup in the World board after several years of tensions.” - GetReligion

I haven’t been a World subscriber for a while, but back in the day, I appreciated Olasky’s analysis and that of others like Gene Veith, Joel Belz, Mindy Belz, and Andree Seu. (missing some of them here obviously) They weren’t afraid to challenge Christian cultural assumptions they felt were wrong, and they’ve done a tremendous amount of good journalism whereby bad actors in Christianity are confronted. To have World clearly taking a political side would be a tragedy.
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
I have subscribed to WORLD magazine for years, and enjoy and appreciate it greatly. Marvin Olasky was an oustanding editor, in my opinion, and I am sorry to see him go.

It doesn’t help that magazines are basically dead. Newsweek gone … Time gone … before them Look! and Life
It’s mostly digital media today.
RNS has a story on it also now.
Marvin Olasky survived Trump as World magazine editor. But not the hot takes.
