Abortions practically nonexistent in Missouri
“As it appears Missouri has become the first state since the Roe v. Wade decision to virtually eliminate abortions, Baptists are celebrating while preparing for more battles ahead.” - BPNews
The “Operation Rescue” links don’t give a whole lot of information, but the overall gist is that the St. Louis affiliate was crippled as the state started to actively investigate adverse events to mothers and prosecute them. Also involved was a greater level of regulation also intended to flag and act on adverse events.
As I’ve noted before (soapbox alert), this illustrates just how vulnerable the abortion industry is. Obstetrician/gynecologists earn over a quarter million bucks a year (as of 5-10 years back), and most cities simply don’t have the “sales volume” to keep a clinic open, while legitimate medical jobs are elusive because even pro-choice people don’t want to hire an abortionist. We don’t want to be foolish as we increase regulations, but well placed regulations and action with adverse events will indeed tend to put abortionists out of business.
Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.
