SBC statement on Critical Race Theory branded 'anti-intellectual;' Tony Evans denies endorsement
“A statement from the Council of Seminary Presidents of the Southern Baptist Convention denouncing racism and critical race theory as incompatible with their beliefs, has come under fire from some Christian academics. Prominent Dallas Pastor Tony Evans denied affirming it Wednesday.” - CPost
Evans released a statement saying the SBC Statement quoted a sermon of his without proper context. Evans referred people to his sermon. It was outstanding. One of the best sermons I’ve heard.
Tyler is a pastor in Olympia, WA and works in State government.
Later in the article there are a few quotes from people who are in favor of CRT. They imply CRT is merely the acknowledgment that racism is pervasive in our society and its structures.
If that were all CRT was, I’d be for it. But CRT is a whole bag of beliefs piled on the obvious observation that racism still exists in America.
What is frustrating is “the powers that be” tell us its CRT or you’re a racist. And that is not true. CRT is a horribly flawed system with political and cultural agendas that have little to do with ending racism and are more about promoting other things.
