Bethel Leader Apologizes After Prophesying Trump Will Win Election

“Kris is not the only one to prophesy a Trump victory. In October, Trump attended the International Church of Las Vegas, where the church’s senior pastor, Denise Goulet, spoke a word of prophecy over him during the worship service. ‘At 4.30 (am), the Lord said to me, “I am going to give your president a second wind.“ This has 3 meanings. A win – you will be the president again.’” - MCD

The silly games evangelicals play with Scripture to justify stupidity like this… I love Grudem’s Systematic Theology, but he provides cover for foolishness such as this.

As my good friend Flavor Flav says, “Don’t believe the hype.”

Isn’t the OT penalty for false prophecy….death? I’m not a complete cessationist, and I’m not seriously endorsing killing this guy, but there is a point where I’d guess most pentacostals and charismatics would come around a lot closer to a cessationist point of view if those who prophecied falsely (or falsely “spoke in tongues”, etc..) were punished appropriately. There is a very real issue if people are putting false words into God’s mouth, in effect.

If you watch the guy’s video, he assures everyone he’s not a false prophet because this is the first mistaken prophecy he’s made in 14 years of ministry.

…at least he apologized, but in his apology really doesn’t seem to grasp the significance of what he did. Once or a thousand times, he’s misrepresented God before his church and arguably the nation. God’s not a .250 or even .999 hitter, He bats 1.000.

Aspiring to be a stick in the mud.

@T. Howard: Maybe your reference to “Evangelicals” was limited to Grudem and Sovereign Grace and such. For the record, I’m not sure Bethel should qualify as “Evangelical.”
