Have followed a version of the Graham/Pence rule for decades, but the rigidity many use is no doubt the genesis of Byrd’s book. It’s a lot like how many men open doors for a lady—break your normal stride to rush to the door and theatrically open it, nearly pushing her into the flow of traffic in the process. No, it’s supposed to look as natural as breathing or walking, and boundaries are the same way.

And on the light side, maybe a middle point to help John out would be to help him learn the nuances of hockey and curling, eh?
