How Strict or Relaxed is Your View on Creation/Creationism?
When I was first saved, many of the people in my new (Bible believing) church held to the Gap Theory. As I began to study the terrain in 1974, I noticed many popular Christian authors held to theistic evolution or perhaps the day-age theory. The young earth creation movement had gained steam by then, and soon this became the predominant viewpoint, at least in my brand of Christianity.
I adopted Henry Morris’ view that the world is perhaps 10,000 years old. Ken Ham went back to Bishop Usher’s chronology and accepts a 6,000 year old earth. Others claim that the Genesis account is a summary of vast ages and not to be taken as fact; when the narrative slows down, this means the creation of Adam and Eve and the Fall are considered facts.
With the popularity of Keller and Piper and others and their theistic evolution, (and Keller’s nastiness toward young earth creationists), it seems other viewpoints have had a resurgence of sorts.
Here on SI, I have noted a number of viewpoints. So the point of this survey is to find out where we are at this point in time.
Please comment or share where you are at this point and perhaps where you have come from.
