One of my favorite law school professors made this point in the late 1970s in his book, http://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Abortion-Theory-Practice-Secular/dp/081990… Beyond Abortion: The Theory and Practice of the Secular State , which I read for his Jurisprudence class. It is well worth reading.

I just pulled the book from my shelf and skimmed the first chapter, which is built around a hypothetical in which problems in funding Social Security have led Congress to pass legislation enabling the involuntary “Merciful Release” of senior citizens whose continued life would be a meaningless burden. Hmmm!

Things That Matter

As the quantity of communication increases, so does its quality decline; and the most important sign of this is that it is no longer acceptable to say so.--RScruton
