'Instant churches' convert public schools to worship spaces

…Because this headline makes an impotant point!
My church pays fair market value for our location in the Alexandria VA public school system. It isn’t anything like a one-time $3,000 permit. We pay about 2 grand a month.
[Mike Durning]…Because this headline makes an impotant point! For those of you who didn’t understand my statement, I was making fun of a typo in the headline as originally posted at USAToday. They have since corrected it.
We also pay the going rate. Our church has been portable since its founding in 1977, and for the 21 years I’ve been there it all has to be set up every Sunday. A friendly school board does let us store many items on site. As we slowly develop our property, we wonder aloud: what are we going to do when we don’t need to set up together anymore? My pious answer is “Pray.” But a fun part of church life for us will be lost.
I’ve often said while “taking down or putting up”, if you die and go to Heaven and there’s a
folding chair up there, you’re in the wrong place!!! Captain Joe Henderson
