Biblical Counseling Coalition launches blog
Is there reasons we need more “umbrella” counseling organizations? I’ve been out of the mainstream a while, someone please enlighten me on this.

Still going strong as far as I can tell… http://www.nanc.org/
I guess “How are you different from NANC?” would be a good one to ask the folks at BCC. Maybe it’s in a FAQ somewhere, but I haven’t seen it over there yet.
Views expressed are always my own and not my employer's, my church's, my family's, my neighbors', or my pets'. The house plants have authorized me to speak for them, however, and they always agree with me.
The BCC would include a group of counselors who have the same basic beliefs (sufficiency of Scripture, heart change vs. behavior change,—the site has a great list of core beliefs) but who use a variety of methods (clinical approach, local church driven, etc.). NANC is only one arm of the biblical counseling movement. CCEF, ABC…there are several others as well. The BCC is an effort to get these groups talking and sharing resources in order to strengthen one another. Personally…I’m geeked about it.

Questions:
I just don’t see the added value of the BCC. can someone help me out with this!
- You’ve got Steve Viars on http://www.nanc.org/About_Us/Board_Members.aspx] the board of NANC
- And Steve Viars the President of BCC

[Jim Peet] Questions:The BCC is connecting biblical counseling groups together with shared vision and resources. It goes far beyond Indiana and Steve Viars! You will also notice that David Powlison (CCEF) and Garret Higbee (Harvest Bible Chapel) are also on the board. In the past, these groups co-existed but at little to do with one another. With the BCC, they are connecting and sharing. Both are HQ‘d in Indiana

For example, Bob Kelleman (Exec. Director of BCC) is speaking at the ABC conference at the Village Church in FlowerMound, TX starting tomorrow. This is the kind of connection and cooperating that wasn’t occurring on this level before. The BCC is helping these like-minded groups come together.
Keep in mind, there’s more to come. This is being lauched carefully as each component is figured out so that it can be done with excellence. The more time rolls along, the more will be added to the site.
