Frequent religious participation is associated with development of obesity

I guess Christians take the whole ‘breaking bread’ together thing too far, or maybe embracing ‘bodily exercise profiteth little’?

My guess, based merely on personal observation working a few different churches in different parts of the country over the past 30 years, is a combination of busyness with church activities + lack of time for exercise + minimized emphasis on stewardship of the “temple” + gratification in food (as one of the few “safe” alternatives) = pounds. Just a hunch.

I think we pastors do need to proclaim a more balanced stewardship… of time, talent, treasure, and temple.
